Abstract

The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the essential elements of the historical perspective developed in the philosophical reflection of Bonaventure of Bagnoregio (1218-1274), and the influences that made a huge impact on him like Joachimism, which is one of the most representative aspects of the first generation of the Franciscan movement. The study focuses on such influences’ effects on Collationes in Haexameron where Buenaventura’s language shows a clear Joachimite influence, especially in the periodization of history and hermeneutics that, one the one hand, tried to move away from Abbot Joachim followers’ ideas and that, on the other hand, also experienced his influence leaving open ended questions towards the possibility of a Bonaveturian Joachimism.
