Abstract

This article examines the historical roots of a project that seeks to constitute a new ethics: a material ethics of values, which in discussion with ethical formalism emphasizes the need to return to a philosophical discussion of the contents of Ethics (that is, it's not only the subject of the ultimate source of morality), but is also capable of delivering a material foundation for ethics that still has not exhausted its real possibilities for the constitution of an ethos that can provide objective criteria for moral conduct.
